INDONESIAN INITIATIVE ON PLANT GENETIC RESOURCES AWARENESS

INDONESIA strongly realizes the negative impact of human activities on plant genetic resource(PGR) conservation and proposes further collaboration on developing awareness of society on PGR conservation. Suggested activities are to develop awareness of society on importance of Biodiversity in general & specifically on PGR. This will be carried out by organizing:

 

Studium generale at the University, a discussion on PGR with students who will be

future leaders.

 

Posters for kindergarten and primary/secondary school, an activity started ten years

ago.

 

One day seminar on PGR developed for the religious sector to enable their

congregation to be aware of PGR conservation.

 

Talks to the Defence sector, the Army and the Police on the importance of PGR so

that they too can participate or participation by orders from the top.

 

Exchange of information through network information system for identified PGR.

 

Short term training for 2 - 3 weeks with two candidates from each RECSEA member country.
